Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. – World Health Organisation

Recently, I had a chiropractic assessment. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for years but after meeting and chatting to Dr Tom Waller during a charity fundraiser at Mercure Cardiff, I bit the bullet and booked my session, not entirely knowing what to expect.

My knowledge of what a chiropractor does was fairly limited. In my head I thought it was something to do with posture and alignment. It turns out to be much more.

As a business owner I know that I’m more productive and creative when my energy and wellness levels are highest so I wanted to see what Chiropractic could do… Tom called it reaching “Optimal Health” rather than just “Being Okay.”

The initial appointment was about an hour and really made me think about my daily habits, good and bad. Starting with a questionnaire and a chat we moved on to a comprehensive set of physical assessments in the state-of-the-art clinic in Cardiff Bay, where Tom works.

After an examination and X-Ray, Tom was able to identify a long standing issue I had and was able to prescribe a course of Chiropractic Adjustments that would address the root cause – pressure on the nerves running through the spine due to subluxation (a sort of kink in the spinal column).

Other investigations included…

A special weighing scales that measure the body weight being carried by each leg independently (I was burdening my one leg 20% more than the other, which correlated with a weakness in my one knee) and electronic tests for neural efficiency across heart, muscles, organs and glands.

I’ll now be undergoing a course of adjustments to lessen or remove the subluxations that have occurred over my life..

It got me thinking, how much profit and added value is lost by entrepreneurs not being at optimal health and how much more could we get from business and life if we were in tip top condition.
